'37 Century shifter spring replacement

Seems that the spring in the shifter housing that keeps tension on the shifter is always broken in these trannies. Has anyone ever been able to locate a replacement? I have used a similar unit from Century Spring in CA but there minimum order is a killer. That spring is shorter and requires an addition of a machined spacer to make up the difference. Just thought I would put this out here to seeif anyone else has come up with a better idea.
