Yes,1963.  My first new car was a red 63 Valiant Signet convertible. I promptly installed (with help)  a 'Hiper-Pack kit offered by MoPar. It consisted of a cam, headers with duals, and a Carter AFB 4-barrel. There were a lot of Mustangs and turbo Corvairs that went home licking their wounds.  And Ya, we dressed that way.

I chased the girls in old clunkers that would break down in secluded places.

The only new cars I ever bought didn't last very long. (I was younger then)

I may have better luck these days. I hope. I have been considering a new pick up, but my old one keeps running.

in Early 1968 my mom sent me some money so I could shop for her a new car.

I bought a left over 67 Dart.

A nice coupe with bucket seats and console with a floor shift. Slant, auto.

Fast forward to 1986 the Dart had 300,000 miles on it and I sold it for more that I paid in 68.

I did have to put a tranny in it at some point. The last straw however was when the radiator failed in a very bad place and she refused to drive it anymore.

The K-car replacement lasted her until my daughter talked her out of it. Didn't make any money on that thing.
