motoringicons
SOLD. This 1952 MGTD was purchased by the current owner in 2003. Prior to that, that car was owned by a collector in New Mexico and was likely restored in the late 1990s. Today, this car presents well and has always been maintained. It has been driven about 1,700 miles since the restoration was completed. During the last year the car received a overall mechanical servicing by Muncie Imports including rebuilt brakes. This car runs and drives well. The engine starts easily, idles and accelerates well, does not smoke or overheat and makes good oil pressure. The engine was just given a major tune up and the compression checked out at 120 on all four cylinders. The four speed transmission shifts easily and the clutch is smooth. The brakes and steering are extremely responsive. All of the features such as the gauges, lights, horn, wipers, etc operate as they should. The body is extremely solid and straight. Looking underneath the car, there are no signs of damage, neglect or repair. You can tell this was always a good, tight car. The maroon paint has the expected nicks and scratches but has a good look to it and a strong overall gloss. The chrome is very clean and would likely clean up even better. The interior is in very good condition including the seats, door panels, carpets and storage area. The dash board is excellent with a very clean and clear set of gauges. The car retains its original chassis/engine and body plates and the engine number and frame number matches the data plate as it should. The car has a full set of side curtains and a matching, full length tonneau cover. This is a super clean and ready to enjoy MGTD that looks right from all angles. The price is a very reasonable 17,500.00 and the car is located near Indianapolis, Indiana. oldcar
Wow! where is the sense of adventure with the current generation? You must be interested in British Cars or you would not be looking at this. At $17,500; even if it was a complete dog, which it obviously it is not, the price has to be right! It is nicely restored and presents well. The TD MG was designed and built expressedly for the American Market. The GI's returning from Europe in 1947/8 loved these cars. It was made for them! It is LHD so no problem there; it is four on the floor simply because it is a sports car and that is where the gearchange belongs. Get in drive it, put some FUN back into your life. You could pay more for an A Model Ford clunker and there is no fun in that. Here that bell ringing? It is your wake up call ! Bj.

Bj. I agree totally with you on the gearshift. But the sad thing is that, at least in the USA, many many of the 'current generation' have no idea how to drive a manual transmission! oldcar
Thank you Paul you are probably correct. Here in Australia as with probably the rest of the (western) world we are having government sponsored trials of driverless cars. You don't even need to be able to think!
