Well, Melbourne is 2 hours and 45 minutes from home. Going there cause I don’t trust anybody locally. They kept putting my work off and lots of excuses. Trying Space Coast Plating which have good reviews.

cxgvd
Same drive to the platers for me, Toronto, however a if you like the workman it fits the definition of a "pleasure trip". Best of luck, Gary
Elpad
Yep, planning to see some family at the same time and the best part is that I would probably have to come back at sometime to picked them back up. Another sample of hidden expenses that don’t add to the value of the car when finished! Some other than car people do not realize how much effort time and $ goes into this hobby. Elpad
Well, just dropped the parts at the plating shop minus the front and rear bumper guards that still need some metal work before going to the process. Lots of “Franklins” just disappeared from my bank account in just few seconds and that was only the 50% deposit. Oh my! Will be concentrating on overtime and extra duty work as soon as I come back tomorrow for duty.
Elpad
That massive 1950 houndstooth grille is the biggest culprit. I’m looking at a 4 month turn around.

Elpad
Well, in the meantime I started to make the interior firewall cover and insulation. I’m making this with three layers of roof #30 felt paper glued together to achieve the proper thickness yet very flexible to work with. Next I will glue insulation material to make it as close to original as possible. This will replace the original material that was brittle and ripped upon removal.

Elpad
Well, welcome 2019! Would this be the year I finish? Shooting for 2020 Winter Nationals in my hometown.... dreaming! in the meantime first job this year still molding panels, this time trunk panels. Again spraying with 💦 and lots of pressure for 2 to 3 weeks... it works. All this while waiting for Carlos to finish few minor metal details before paint 🎨 prep. Elpad
After few weeks, the panels are taking shape. Panels were repositioned to fine tune the curves and overall shape repeating the pressure and water mist process. Looking good. Picture shows how the whole trunk panels will look when done. These will be painted at a later time. Oh and my best helper! My granddaughter is growing along. At this pace, I just hope I will finish this build before her Sweet 16th.

Elpad
I’m going the cheap route, I’m using 2 layers of roof paper for floor insulation to imitate the factory originals. I was concern about the smell residue but to my surprise, no smell at all, besides carpet comes with padded jute.
Elpad
Still waiting for Carlos, the body man. He says he’s coming next week to finish few metal details before body and paint prep. I been hearing the same story over & over but he will get mad if someone else finish the job so I continue to work on the trunk panels so there will be less work to finish afterwards

Elpad
Sorry I did not check the spelling... I meant “half” instead of “have” for me is about 6k, still high for all parts except front and rear bumper guards which I have to repair first. You have to really love this hobby!
