Vince76
Can anyone please help me identify this door. I got a pair of them inside a car I bought but they do not go to it. I thought maybe the shape of the window might help. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Vincent

TLoft
Quote My guess is an early 30s GM, because of the vent window. Others didn't have that and suicide front doors were popular. I'll go with a '33 Olds. External hinges match but keyhole is a question. Would that be an option that year?
Vince76
I don't think it's a suicide door. I'll check out Olds. Not sure about the keyhole. Vincent

TLoft
Sorry, Vince. I didn't make myself clear. I meant that suicide front doors were becoming popular on many other models but was not the door in question. Good luck.
keiser31
It appears by that photo of the glass that it goes all of the way up and alongside the wind wing window. Is that correct?
Vince76
Yes, the window goes up past the wing. The wing is mounted outsde the window.
TLoft
Quote Did they have a little factory script on the glass that early? I've heard it called a "bug" usually down in a corner of the glass. Don't really know what it's called.
Vince76
I think there is. I'll check and get back.
Vince76
It says Duplate Safety 24 in the lower corner
TLoft
Hey, I think we found something. Maybe somebody will recognize that code and narrow it down. I think that refers to a type of safety glass with sticky stuff between two plates of glass. I still put my nickel on early GM... Well, it was fun. Good luck. nzcarnerd
Not 100% certain on this but I think GM patented the vent window in about 1933 and because of that Chrysler had to use a different system, which had the vent window retracting with the main glass. I don't know how long that idea was used for.
F&J
I think it looks of Nash somewhat, so I looked on the Nash owners pics site. The 34 Nash Big Six might be a match.. I keep looking at the rear edge of door window, and I'm just not sure. is it? or not? Several owners have pics under 34 section, in the Big Six listings.. http://www.nashcarclub.org/nccaphot/thirty/34_1223-mnu.html One shows the RF lock under handle, some clearly show the unusual vent glass. Lastly, the OP door has an inexpensive style garnish moulding that would not be a Big series Nash 8. The handles: in/out are Nash reminiscent to me Edited October 10, 2016 by F&J (see edit history)
Dave Mellor NJ
Well done F&J. While I can't find a 2 door pic there's enough here to convince me
Vince76
I think you guys have got it pretty close. I'm pretty sure Nash is right. I think 1935 Lafayette might be the answer.
