this is the engine has returned to his compartment as if nothing had happened :)

Verdict, the problem of heating was due to the cooling system in poor condition and there was a cylinder head gasket too (that we suspect before disassembly).
A broken piston, the engine was in very good condition inside, very little worn.
in the elbow of the exhaust manifold on the driver's side there is a butterfly which closes or opens according to the heat. With time this butterfly was locked in position almost close, and the old owner to ride like that.
this may be what caused a heater and a cylinder head gasket on this side.
I then had to run the engine, and now my engine no longer heats, no more hard upper hose or coolant that sank continuously.
My engine is heating up like a normal v8 :)
The end of the winding was around July 2014, I was then able to enjoy and go for walks over 3h without any worries :)

After enjoying the Buick, I started the restoration.
And at one point when I had to move the Buick, and I was running out of fuel ^^
I put a little gasoline and she turned very badly (she had to swallow a residue surely), then force she start the first cost and turn well at low speed, as soon as I accelerated it graze and stalled.
once the engine came out of the car to start the restoration, I saw that my new gasoline hoses was completely dead and had air intakes, so maybe that's why she grazed.
So re-dismantling of the engine with box ^^
(It's pictures were made in 2016/2017, being given that the hood, wings, ... were disassemble, the engine became very dirty, full of dust)

Yes it is the oil of the box in red on the ground, you see the little green box with more oil? Ben someone to knock this box down without doing it on purpose ^^

Then finally here we are at last week end or I install my engine on my roaster :), normally we attach the engine to the roaster with screws box, but since my screw boxes are too short I had to other .

A friend had also started his engine on a GS 71 riviera and they are the same block, and he had the same problem as me. So he had to make a support that is put at the back of the engine to fix with the screws of boxes, then then one fixes the rotisserie on the new support.

The support

This week end I clean the exhaust manifold gasket on the cylinder heads, cleaning my exhaust manifolds, I definitively remove the butterfly in the collector in case it will put in the closed position, then others small details.

Here is :)

I definitely recommend that you replace the timing chain and nylon-tooth cam gear before painting and reinstalling the engine.  The nylon teeth will certainly fail and you'll never have better access to the engine than while it is out of the car.  Great story and i love the detailed pictures!  You are making steady progress.  ;)

Good evening everyone, small advance on the engine.
I continue by the collectors, I have it sanded flat and as can be seen the plans of joints are not in super condition. So I'll take them in the week to a milling turner to rectify them and change the collector output studs (those who fix it on the exhaust line).

Then I took care of this famous butterfly who had committed a lot of ensuit to the previous one.

At least it will not bother :) , I will still leave the outside of the mechanism to stay in the original.

Then I had a small problem with an exhaust manifold thread, a piece is broken.

A friend welder trade has come to join me this piece with rods for cast iron. Once the two parts clean and enlarged slots to the deburrer to weld, everything returns to order :) .  He voluntarily did not grind the welds to the maximum to leave more material.

The product has had time to act all week and today I re-stripping (to remove the residue that my rust removes) and then painted in phosphating primer

After that, it's the turn of the starter. Having already done the preparation and painting the last time we had redone the engine, I had just a cool cost to give it.
So after degreasing, sanding and cleaning, it's time to paint.

I will see if in addition to that, if I spend a clear varnish to protect the painting of the starter.
So here for this weekend, normally this week I take my collectors, I buy new cables for the battery and harness and purchase new hoses (if all goes well)
here is :)
