Jerry Alexander
My 1929 Chevrolet is showing some areas where the rubber moldings around the windows and top are beginning to crack. Is there a special "lubricant" that can be applied to soften the moldings in an effort to extend the life of the moldings? If so, where can the product be purchased? Or is there something else that can be done? I thank you in advance for your assistance in this matter. Jerry Alexander
Vila
Jerry I have heard people mention products to restore rubber parts on previous posting, but I cannot recall what they said they used. I am thinking someone said Pine-Sol, but I am not 100% positive on that. You may want to add your posting to the General Discussion section, as you may get more response on restoring rubber parts at that location. As a last resort you can buy many new rubber parts for 1929 Chevrolets from Steele at: http://www.steelerubber.com/search?year=1929&make=chevrolet&model=international&style=4-door-sedan-5-passenger From your small photo, it looks like you have a 4 door sedan, so my link should go directly to that section on the Steele website.
