F&J
Typical hype from the ad: 1928 Desoto, pre-production model, only 6 were produced and titled in 1928. That is nonsence. There were many Desoto K's made in the last months of 28, but unlike the Plymouths that were also built in 28, the DeSotos were only sold as 29's. Every K has a Patent date in big letter/numbers on the radiator shell lip, and all have the same 1928 date. Plymouths were advertised and sold as 28s as model Q and in 29 as model U The guy is wrong The bumper on an early K does not have long vertical bolts at the tips. The early ones curled around 180 and were riveted to the bumper cross brace. The steering wheel looks like it came from a boat! It does have the correct horn button. The hubcap shown is Graham?.. that is not a Desoto cap. Early K wood wheel caps were slightly smaller than K caps made in 29, but they are not shown here I can't believe there are 40+ bids at over 7k on this so called "prototype" or protoHype The engine serial number or FEDCO number on the dash would tell how "rare" it is ....LOL
