Durant Mike
I know that most of the spaces are usually booked over a year in advance, but who do you contact to say be put on a list to see if one comes available? Looking for a space to represent our car club. Let me know where to start?
mobileparts
They are not booked over a year in advance -- they are like cemetery plots -- they are owned for life and beyond!!!!! Some spots (10'x 30' for 1 spot) become available as some die or don't renew ..... You have to call the Hershey Region of the AACA -- and their phone number is always in the AACA magazine. Good luck getting spots.... if you can get by with 2 ... they have 2 available more frequently, than say, 5 or 6......
Steve Moskowitz
Please do not call the Hershey Region as that is not how spaces are sold. First you must be a member of AACA. In the MAY/JUNE issue of our magazine there will be a request form for spaces (this is on the back side of the sheet that has your name and address). You are allowed to ask for up to three. In the first week of July we send out the actual registration materials which are to go directly to the Hershey Region. They will assign available spaces based upon "first come, first served". There are usually several hundred spaces available each year which is not many considering there are over 9,000 in total. Incidentally while it may appear that spaces are "booked for life" they actually have to be renewed each year. That is one of several reasons why spaces become available (death, sickness, lost interest, etc.) as some members forget to renew. It happens every year and it is terribly frustrating for everyone as once the member realizes his/her error they are very upset but there is nothing that can be done once the deadline is over with. Restorer32
Waiting for the inevitable "if people wouldn't use their spaces just for parking there would be plenty of spaces for everyone"...
Durant Mike
Thanks Steve! I'll look for that and throw my name in.
Restorer32
If you can't get a space and are an AACA member look us up close to the event. We may be able to accommodate you depending on how much room you need.
42cady
Hi, Someone at Williamsport was stating that the drive going into to Chocolate field near the Chocolate World has changed. Will that effect any of the spaces or layout?
Steve Moskowitz
As of this time NO. I will report back later...sorry for the late reply but I have not been on here much for the last two weeks.
Steve Moskowitz
I forgot to respond back to this thread. Although the road around the normal Chocolate Field entrance is being re-configured and supposed to be on its way to completion by the fall meet the entrance will be the same. Penndot approved a cut out in the road to access the field. No worries other than the usual. Someone please make a deal to get great weather again this year. Joe Block
Camping and/or sleeping in your car is Hershey tradition, and can easily save $500 or more in hotel charges, the money to be spent on parts. A close friend you bring me hot water from his hotel back in the mid 90's/ to sponge bath and to wash by hair, later i found there were shower available in the stadium. Dollar were short, TO afford to Get to Hershey was a challenge some years. Love Hershey all weather.
