1932 Packard 901 steering wheel removal

Recommended Posts

My friend Ron is trying to remove his steering wheel.  I took mine off years ago and can't remember how I did it.  Can anyone tell me how to remove the steering wheel?   Many thanks, Earl

The "brush-off" wasn't meant as such, he posted the same question in the Packard forum area and that's where I happened to be when I answered it.  In a nutshell, drop the headlight switch, the hand throttle sector gear if so equipped, remove the levers for the throttle and headlight controls, loosen the gland nut and push the concentric brass tubes for these controls upward such that they exit the steering column from the top, lifting the horn button.  That that gives access to the steering wheel retaining nut.
