poci1957
I would not say everything is easy, but it is not too bad. The 316 is a one year only engine so pistons and bearings may be spotty, but other basics are little problem and many body items are very easy. Take a look at www.pontiacparts.net and www.amesperf.com to see what you think, Todd C

rocketraider
Auto Restorer and Hemmings Classic Car have recently had great articles on 55-57 Pontiacs. Worth grabbing those issues if you can find them.
46 woodie
If I'm not mistaken aren't many Chevy and Pontiac parts from those years interchangeable? Like most have said, parts are still available from many places. How about some pictures?

Like most have said, parts are still available from many places. How about some pictures? Most of the parts that do interchange are external trim parts of the (roof) canopy. Certainly nothing mechanically. As far as drivetrain goes there would be some common parts with Oldsmobile like HydraMatic.

How about some pictures? On On the subject of interchangeability, I can tell you that "back-in-the-day" my 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air sported 1955 Pontiac station waon tail lights. The complete housings swapped without need of any alteration.
