1930 Dodge Brothers Truck - Getting Started

I am a new member just getting started with a truck I picked up last week. This is my first vehicle restore, I have restored a number of antique tractors but this is a wholly different beast! I am trying to find out more information about the truck, as well as gather any reference photos, etc that I can for it.

From what I can find, based on the title (1930), serial number (E148269), and the wheelbase (133") I think it's a DA-1-C-133 1 Ton truck manufactured in 1930. Does this seem right?

What manuals/books/etc can you recommend, and where can I find them? What references are out there for paint, body style, etc? How about parts?

Any help would be appreciated.

Since you've done a few tractors in the past, you already know some of the challenges ahead of you.

1. Do research which sounds like you started. Contact the AACA Library and get info about your vehicle. What makes your model what it is and what options/features/colors were availble.

2. Find other like Dodge truck owners and get pics of their vehicle. This doesn't mean to say that their vehicle didn't get altered during the years, but its a start. Recognize what is right and what isn't.

3. Develop a realistic plan of expenditures for your project. If the engine and drive train are healthy, degreasing, power washing, wire brushing, and hand painting maybe suitable for the engine & chassis. Ensure the mechanicals are sound before you go too far down the path where you can't recover.

4. Make a safe and reliable vehicle for you to enjoy. Address the fuel system from tank to carb. I suggest replacing the wiring as well and include a master battery switch. Too many vehicles have been destroyed by fire due to fuel and electrical systems. Don't be a casualty.

Your information on your truck looks accurate. I am aware of a kin to this truck that is a DA-124 panel with a DA6 engine. Yours appears to be a DA6 also. What is the engine number located on the block above the front valve cover panel? Do you have the original vin plate located on the passenger side toe plate or floor board?

I own a 29DB series "E" truck. Your truck body is not the same as mine. See attached.

The color was Dodge Blue with black fenders. This blue would oxidize to a green color. If you use some light rubbing compound you will see the blue color.

Be sure and get the Dodge Truck book from the Dodge Club.

You may want to move this to the Dodge Bros section of the site.
