Buick Nationals 2003 "Flint"

Recommended Posts

I suspect that when we think of "Flint", we think of the whole metro area, rather than the geographical "Flint", which is a part of the whole area.  Might be interesting to see just how much of the geographical area is involved.

Still, it pains me to hear of these troubles.

Is anyone interested in seeing video from the 2003 Flint Nationals? I have been transferring old home movies and video to digital. I found several Buick National videos. Mud

Mud,

I would personally be interested in them because I attended with my 1958 Buick Special and while having camera in hand..... Forgot to bring the charger! Duh!

Was still a great event but not many pictures. I'd be willing to compensate you for any video that contains my car in the 1958 group.

Shoot me a PM if it would be worth your while.

Thanks,

Ok,  I had two hours of video. I was able to cut out about 30 minutes of it. I did not cut out any cars that were at the show. I did cut the museum tours and some street dancing.  Some of the video is from the same show areas but different days so there is duplication.  It is rendering right now. I hope to have it uploaded yet tonight if possible. (I was out sandblasting nuts and bolts while it is rendering) Mud

Mud,

SPEC-TAC-U-LAR!

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!

Great video!

While I did not see my car it brought back all to life those three days for me!

There were enough 58's you filmed to more than satisfy me as I all too briefly spoke with the owners.

The closest I have of my car was a picture someone posted on the Michigan Chapter site which just happened to have me and my son standing behind the car.

Hard to believe it is coming up on 13 years this summer....

(sigh)

Mr. Mudbone, are you going to put this on a DVD?  Maybe I should ask if you have the capability to do this.  IF YOU DO, I could send you several blank discs and have you download the video onto them for me and several friends.  I would also ask how much you would need to do this for me.  Also, I loved John D's comment about loving the EARLY cars.

I think I also have 2010. I will see what is on it. Mud

I found video from 2010 but only 6 minutes. I know I took a lot of photos but not much video. I also just found 2013 on another computer. It look like there is a lot there. I will have to take a look later this week.

This was great.  Thank you for posting!

While I know you did not plan it, the first 3rd where you are recording the arrivals, you were standing right in front of my car. The last 3rd where you record departrures, you were standing across from it and feature it in almost every clip.

Thanks again.

Every one who registered for the 2003 Meet remembers this right?

Be sure not to get rid of the original movie film.

I've seen first-hand how the original formats are

MUCH clearer than when they're transferred to

other media, though I haven't seen your Youtube

video yet.

The AACA Annual Meeting every year has a

program where original 16mm car films are shown--

old car ads, salesmen's training films, etc.

When the AACA Library showed some films "converted"

to digital format, they WEREN'T EVEN CLOSE in clarity.

I assume film-industry professionals can do it with no loss;

but even the AACA Library apparently didn't have that capability.

And you were kind enough to have my car again filmed multiple times in the 2013 video.  I have the BCA Pre War Division Banner hanging from my car.

I agree also on the 2003 Centennial Plate.  Have proudly had mine on my car since the day it was handed out.  People still love it.

The quality is pretty good for the most part. All but the 2015 was taped with the old Sony handy cam that uses the small cassette tape. The 2015 video was in HD and there is a big difference in quality. The problem with the old tapes is that the camera equipment is getting old. And they won’t be making them anymore. Used ones are still bringing some decent money because people have not converted them to DVD and now their camera doesn’t work. My brother just called and asked to borrow my camera to convert some video as his camera is now not working as it has been sitting around for years. So anyone that has old video on cassette tape they better get them transferred before all the equipment is gone.
