Thanks for the replies to my first question. After reading the judges manual on line, I still have a couple of questions:

1. Can a person enter the judging process and DPC or do I have to choose between them?

(As mentioned before, my car is driven not put on a trailer. I have kept it as original as possible but it has been used a bit and shows it).

2. I am in the MAP program, so does that matter at a meet?

3. Are there exact fire extinguisher requirements and type, besides that it is working?

4. Can somebody explain how the point system works in a category?

Again thanks for the help.

Without going into a lot of detail and quoting exact phrases from the Judging Guidelines, I will attempt to give you a better understanding...

1. Can a person enter the judging process and DPC or do I have to choose between them?  You have to choose one.

(As mentioned before, my car is driven not put on a trailer. I have kept it as original as possible but it has been used a bit and shows it).

2. I am in the MAP program, so does that matter at a meet? No

3. Are there exact fire extinguisher requirements and type, besides that it is working? As long as it is a commercialy available fire extinguisher and the gauge shows it to be full, you will be OK

4. Can somebody explain how the point system works in a category? The highest scoring car in a class wins 1st place as long as it scored at least 365 points. Any car scoring within 10 points of the highest scoring car also wins a first place award (multiple awards or a tie so to speak). A car scoring 11 points lower than the first place winner would win a 2nd Junior as long as it scored at least 330 points. A car scoring 11 points lower than the 2nd place winner would win a 3rd Junior as long as it scored at least 295 points.

Are you still considering showing your 61 Lark? Most of us "judge" our own cars more severly than they are judged on the show field (at least most times). Why don't you put your Lark in 27D and see how it does?

And as long as you are at a meet sit in on the Judging School. That's the best way to come to understand the Guidelines.

Just a suggestion...

Did you drive it and show it? I which I could see some detailed pictures of what it takes to get to a third junior, or talk to someone, so I know what I am looking at. Thanks

Usually a third junior is the result of a major deduction, like radial tires on a model that came with bias ply tires. Find the sample judging sheet for class judging in the Guidelines and go over the car. Then make sure it is clean, inside and out.

Less is better when it comes to options. What you want is factory correct.

Faded, frayed, dirty, incorrect, missing and/or undocumented is what adds up to less than a first. And I guess I should add, another car in your class that is close to perfect; but there is nothing you can do about that.

At judging school sometimes pictures are shown of incorrect restoration...
