Gus,<BR>In regards to your question, what is a "special" in 1918 Studebaker began refer to their 6 cylinder models as either "Special Six" (1918-1926) or "Big Six" (1918-1928. In 1927 they phased out these terminologies and began using the model names of "Dictator" "Commander" and "President", technically the 1928 Commander was the last to have the "Big Six" engine used in it. For more information as far as model names and serial numbers, look under the page "research" page in this web site and it has all of that info, also a good way to tell what model your 1918 is, would be to measure your wheelbase length, that is also included on the research page.

1918-19 series 19 actualy was a light six 119" wb not a special six and not related related to the later light six of 1920,the first light six name was changed to special six in 1920,, gus what is your contact address? thanks Spencer Carl ,ASC member
