Can anyone help me identify the engine? number is 2922039

I just purchased this 1932 56S and see the engine number doe not match the frame number.

 

I was wondering if you can tell size of engine by the number.

 

Also engine isn't running very well, think it might be carb.

 

Was thinking of converting to down draft carb ???

 

I see I have vacuum advance on the distributor, is that original?

The number 2922039 falls in the very end of the range for 1934.  The first year the engine serial number and the frame serial number match is 1957 for Buick.

32 engines were painted black.  No vacuum advance in 32.

 

You might want to check the heat riser just above the carb.  The tubes inside are prone to rust through allowing air in your case to be drawn in that does not go through the carb.
