Jerry Alexander
Our recent purchase of a 1929 Chevrolet International has spurred me into wondering about the history of this car. I presume others have also been stimulated in the past. If so how did you solve the mystery? What resources were used? I have contacted the AACA Library and found out they do not do research for individual vehicles. I presume I can contact the DMV of Wisconsin (where this car was formerly registered) to learn if they could be of any assistance. Does Chevrolet maintain files of individual vintage cars/trucks? Thanks.
midman
Jerry,I've found that my best bet was inquiring with previous owners. Most DMV's either won't or can't give previous owner information. Some states do however. I was able to get some history (less names) from the Virginia DMV on a car I purchased recently.Another car I researched by doing a Google search and a search here on the AACA forums, found a previous post, contacted that family and received lots of information, documents, and even pictures from them.Good luck.Chuck
Jerry Alexander
Thanks. I have talked with the previous owner and can go back one owner from him. Farther than that I ran into problems. Hopefully WI will be as helpful as VI was for you. Again thanks
