Guest mrputterer
I need a fuel pump for a 1940 Buick Super 50, has anyone tried to match one up to a newer pump for a newer car that would be OTC? Noel
Rusty_OToole
Why don't you just go to the NAPA store and order one for a 40 Buick? They are available. May take a day or 2 to get one. If you insist on hodge podging the wrong part on there, you may be able to find a 6V electric fuel pump that will work almost as well and only cost 2 or 3 times as much in labor and money. Rusty_OToole
Google fu- https://www.kanter.com/content/Buick/kanter_Buick_1940_Fuel_Pumps_4180.html http://www.fusickautomotiveproducts.com/products.asp?dept=439 http://www.autopartsobsolete.com/cart.php?m=search_results&search=1940+buick+fuel+pump Not recommending these, they happen to be the first 3 out of 121,000 hits for '1940 Buick fuel pump'. I still recommend you try your local auto parts store first.

Rusty_OToole
Buick uses a double decker pump that runs the vacuum wipers along with the fuel function. So it costs more money but you need it for the wipers. Make sure you connect it correctly, you need both the pump and engine vacuum for it to work right.
