alsfarms
I need someone to measure the Out to Out width of a 1946 GMC or Chev 1.5 ton truck rear axle, with rims and tires mounted. I will be moving a 1947 GMC 137" wheelbase dump truck next weekend and want to make sure the duals are not going to be wider than the bed of my lowboy, (my trailer is 83" between the fenders). Can anyone help? I will be posting a couple of pictures when I get the truck home. Lastly, is it common to have the head from a 228 GMC on a 248 GMC block? I am not sure yet but that appears to be the head and block combination on my new truck. Help me if you can.Al
mribbich@wi.rr.com
You can remove the outside set of tires to make it fit or leave them on and let them hang over if they do. My 1942 Chevrolet truck dually outside tires hung over the sides just a little. Marv.
