I found the following note written in a 1954 Mopar parts book:

To replace #1327425 camshaft:  Use:

 #1635792 camshaft

 #1618718 dowel

 #1618732 washer

 #1618666 sprocket

 # 106751 key

 #1618717 spacer

And:  Move sprocket on crankshaft out a little to line up with camshaft sprocket and is now gear driven instead of chain driven.

 Hope this helps somebody

I don't know how you can use chain sprockets as gears. I would question the accuracy of this note in your book.

Hollander Interchange shows part # 1327425 as 1952 thru 1954. Part # 1635792 is 1956 model S23 and #1635793 is 1956 model S24. Hollander says interchange is between #1635792 and #1635793. The deal is the engines that use #1327425 are low deck block displacing 276 ci, whereas the engines that use #1635792 and 1635793 are tall deck blocks displacing 291 ci and 330 ci. Cams do not interchange between low and tall decks as the valve timing would be off.
