Pete Phillips
I have not been around enough of these to know. Can anyone tell me if the material covering the upper part of the interior door panels on this 1961 LeSabre station wagon is the correct, original stuff or not? It looks like that cheap, fake, wood-grained vinyl shelf paper that you peel and stick. But, if it is not original, it has been installed perfectly with no wrinkles or air bubbles. All four upper door panels have it. By the way, this is a rare 3-seat LeSabre wagon, unrestored car. Anyone got a rear bumper for it? The rear bumper is a station wagon-only item, 1961 or 1962 Buick full-size wagons only. Pete Phillips, BCA #7338 Leonard, Texas
Pete Phillips
If anyone wants to know, I got an answer to my question from Eric Stoldt, the BCA's Technical Advisor for 1961 Buicks, who says that the wood-grained vinyl is indeed the original stuff. He says it looks pretty bad on a blue interior, but on my brown one it isn't so bad. Pete Phillips
Roadmaster75
Hi Pete FYI, 3M sells woodgrain material for auto & industrial applications. They sellthrough dealers. They have LOTS of patterns and colors to choose from. The dealers should be able to closely approximate your material & send youswatches. Di-Noc as it is sometimes called is not cheap, but I'veused it on exteriors of wagons, as well as woodgraining the interior cargo area panels of my 51 panel truck; with great results. If you can't find a source..let me know and I'll try to dig up the dealer's info that I used.mike

JohnD1956
That's kinda shocking. I would not have thought that was original for 61.
