that is not correct. Later 55 models were made with 12 volts. This clock is clearly embossed "12 volts" and so it only works on 12 volt systems. I also have a 6 volt clock of the same year and style and it will work on either 6 or 12 volt systems.  Many thanks for your note!

I am usually the one getting schooled on these forums. but I know this to be true not only because of the clock, but also, I had a 1955 commander coupe that I had to order parts for..ran into an issue with ordering horns for the correct voltage..had to distinguish which voltage my car had...actually thought it was common knowledge but apparently not. regardless, thanks for the note and enjoy those studes!
