Buffalowed Bill
Should not be a 12V clock, 6V in 1955.
jcs2001
that is not correct. Later 55 models were made with 12 volts. This clock is clearly embossed "12 volts" and so it only works on 12 volt systems. I also have a 6 volt clock of the same year and style and it will work on either 6 or 12 volt systems. Many thanks for your note!
Buffalowed Bill
Never know what you are going to learn here! Been dealing with 1955 Studebakers for sixty years, and having had about twenty five of them, and never seen a 12V, so I defer to the man who says he knows. jcs2001
I am usually the one getting schooled on these forums. but I know this to be true not only because of the clock, but also, I had a 1955 commander coupe that I had to order parts for..ran into an issue with ordering horns for the correct voltage..had to distinguish which voltage my car had...actually thought it was common knowledge but apparently not. regardless, thanks for the note and enjoy those studes! rbk
No 12 Volt 1955 Studebakers were produced. The car you refer to must have been converted and the clock changed to 12 volt.Robert Kapteyn48 year member
jcs2001
Robert: how is it then the clock is factory stamped "12 volt". the clock was solely made for 1955 models.
