mguyton
Does someone have a resource to help me decode this data plate?
sean1997
The serial number plate stamped 45029 is a reproduction and stamped with a number that is not a Buick serial number. The Buick serial number should be 8 digits long and start with a 1 because the body was built at Flint, MI and the plant code for Flint was 1. BUICK MOTOR DIVISION GENERAL MOTORS CORPORATION FLINT, MICH. 1942 MOD. STYLE No 42-4227B BODY No 302 TRIM No 50 OB PAINT No 4 TOP ACC. BODY BY FISHER 1942 = 1942 model year MOD. 44 (not stamped) 44 = 2-door business coupe, 3-passenger STYLE No 42-4227B 42 = 1942 model year 4227B = Fisher body style number 4 = Buick 2 = Special/Series 40A (118 inch wheelbase) 27B = 2-door business coupe, 3-passenger BODY No 302 302 = 302nd 4227B built at Flint, MI Trim 50 = Tan and Grey Bedford Cord, available on models 41, 44, 46, 46S, 47, 48, 48S Paint code 4 = solid Honolulu Blue Metallic I think O and B might be accessory option codes, but the list I have for 1942 shows the following, and doesn't make sense because I think the grained garnish moldings were only available on series 90 and I doubt they would have stamped the code for the accessory group. O = Grained Garnish Molding B = Accessory Group

sean1997
It is model 44, which is listed as 42-44 in the table (42=1942 model year).
