Conv top up driving

It's 96° And humid here today and feeling a little under the weather I decided to go to the local cruise with the top up and A/C on. This is the first time I have driven this one with the top up and only drove the white one a couple times with the top up. It amazes me just how tight and quiet the convertibles are with the tops up and with less glass area cool down so much better than the coupes. My only wish would have been for them to have color keyed the headliner to the interior instead of the black.

Keith,

I fully agree about how quiet my '91 convertible is with the top up while driving, but I'm OK with the black as opposed to bright red to match my interior.  Frankly, I think a bright red head liner would be a bit much, but that's just my opinion.

Needless to say, my '62 Skylark convertible is MUCH louder driving down the road with the top up than the '91 Reatta.  Those engineering types learned a bunch during those 29 years.

I agree, hadn't thought about the bright red interiors, that would be way to much.  The other colors would work well though, in fact I remember someone redoing theirs in the saddle when they redid the top and it looked nice.

Also agree about the older ones, both my 72's and the 69 you knew you were driving a convertible with the top up.   I believe the 69 was quieter than the 72's but I put a  brand new high end top on it shortly after I got it which may have been the difference. There again, I can count the times I drove any of those with the tops up.
