Bobby Rodd
Being limited on funds, is it advisable to cut my own flat glass for my '37 Special? May I use tempered glass or must it be laminated?
Restorer32
Use laminated. You can't cut tempered glass nor can a glass shop. It has to be cut then sent out for tempering, an expensive process. We have all our flat glass cut and the edges polished by a local glass shop. It's not very expensive at all. Guest outlaw car man
Agree, have a glass shop cut it, I even took some vent windows to my glass shop , they cut and inserted them for me. They like messing with some old car stuff, something different.

bobj49f2
I had trouble finding a place locally that would cut flat glass for my '49 Ford truck many years back. Most auto glass companies what to sell packaged glass, not custom cut it. I went to a place that made shower doors. Make sure you go to a place that knows auto glass. There is a special highway glass used for windshields. It's different that the glass that is used in doors and rear windows.
