Guest Calli Ken
Positive Ground!
keiser31
Positive Ground! The ground is determined by where you put the cables on the battery. A 6 volt battery is just a 6 volt battery. Go to NAPA for a 6 volt battery. You will find the original under the driver's side floor. Bleach
I was joking about the positive ground part. As Kaiser said, most any 6 volt battery will do.

Rusty_OToole
I think he means, where is the battery on the car? My guess is, under the front floor boards. There should be a removable cover plate in the floor someplace. Correct me if I am wrong. Tractor supply places sell 3 sizes of batteries that fit most old 6V cars. Measure your battery box and pick the most suitable one. For extra money you can buy an Optima or similar, better than the old lead box if you plan on keeping it for a few years. keiser31
Your engine number is on the flat pad just below the cylinder head on the front, driver's side of the engine block. The number should start with the letters, "DD"....the raised numbers that you show are the casting numbers, not the engine numbers. Guest Calli Ken
Here is the list of engine numbers....I think the location shows different than yours, thougKeiser. could you post some pictures of your engine compartment distributor wiring? e I am having trouble with spark, I ran a wire from the starter to a switch, from the switch to the positve side of the coil from the neg side of the coil to the distributor. when i open the points with screw drive r I get no spark. any help would be appriciated. thanks. Bleach
I could be wrong but since this is positive ground, wouldn't you run the switch wire to the negative side of the coil then the positive side of the coil to the distributor. Just thinking backward from a negative system.
Guest Calli Ken
Yes I tried that too. I get six volts in , and 3 volts out that way for some reason. testing from the positive to top of engine head, and then from the neg to the top of engine head. when I first wired it . I was getting 6 volts in and 6 volts out. ohm test on coil with no power shows its still good. its a new bwd E5 coil.
