raleets Posted August 3, 2015 Share Posted August 3, 2015 I too am greatly saddened by his passing.I knew Doc for about 15 years and was always impressed by his humble nature for a man of his stature. Doc would give and do most anything within reason for you, including strangers. Over the years he presented me with several autographed photos and posters, along with other assorted gifts that I will always cherish.And, just in case you weren't aware, Doc's full name was Jack A. Watson. His initials were 'J.A.W.' and he was the creator of the 'JAWs of life' used by virtually every fire department in our nation. He got the moniker of 'Doc' from high profile drag racers who needed their shifting mechanisms 'doctored' between runs. The drivers called him the "Shifty Doctor", which was shortened to just 'Doc'.His stories were legendary and he'll be hugely missed. 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
