Bleach
What amazes me the most is the amount of design that must go into the tooling that is part of the manufacturing process.
joe_padavano
What's depressing is that US manufacturing has lost the capability to produce things like that. I remember when the Chevy SSR came out. GM had to go overseas to stamp the highly crowned fenders because the company no longer had the capability or technology to stamp such parts domestically. Pretty sad commentary given how many similar fenders got stamped by GM in the 1930s and 40s.
Guest Skyking
It's really fortunate that we have these videos. Future generations would think we never made anything here. Very sad!!
Bhigdog
Pretty much every one of those guys has been replaced by a robot. I'm not sure if that's a good or bad thing...................Bob
Guest
Great video!Back when America was the world's industrial powerhouse and we were KING of the auto industry! Only odd thing was the dismal soundtrack Should have been something positive and upbeat for a great movie like that.

Segments of it are on Internet Archives with original soundtrack by the Detroit Symphony which, I think, is a better match to the topic and era. Here is one segment, look around the Internet Archives site for the others: https://archive.org/details/1315_Master_Hands_M7250_00_49_25_00

Seems like it would be better mated to a film noir melodrama from the 1940's!
mrpushbutton
That score was written and recorded for this film, and is just right. The "Detroit Philharmonic" would have been a pick-up group comprised of Detroit Symphony players, working outside the structure of the symphony.
