buick man
Kind of a neat short we found comparing the bits and pieces of comparison sales war data from July 1950 produced by Chrysler for their sales forces comparing their New Yorker to the Roadmaster Buick. What do you think? See anything you did not know about either brand and what could or should of they included or did they purposely excluded anything in your opinion ?
Taylormade
I wonder why anyone bought a Buick?
Rusty_OToole
You wouldn't think they did, if you went by the cars you see today. Even though Buick outsold Chrysler, the Chrysler has a higher survival rate.
buick man
Higher survival rate? What data and sources are you quoting directly from or is this your gut feeling and opinion ? The sheet metal on the Chryslers were much thinner as I have owned both cars at one time or another. That chrome strip running along the belt line separated the 2 piece front fenders on the NY as would the split windshield which would be carried on for sometime after by Chrysler. The electric windshield wipers was a nice touch for 1950. But the infinite variability of speeds that the vacuum wipers provided was a contributor to it being continued all the way into 1955 or so for GM and until 59 for Buick. The padded dash on the NY is a plagiarized touch taken from the Tucker along with the braking system. Neat how they compare the wanna be quasi automatic 3 speed, plus overdrive fluid drive to the dynaflow. Chrysler had some innovative concepts though.
