LAS VEGAS DAVE Posted July 7, 2015 Share Posted July 7, 2015 I recently purchased a 1938 Buick Special. The previous owner was a fellow by the name of Lewis Jenkins of Wilkesboro North Carolina. He passed away and his collection of Buicks were sold. The car is all original with only 20500 miles on it. I noticed that it has a BUICK CLUB OF AMERICA ARCHIVAL AWARD badge affixed the the front of the grille. I don't know where or when this was added, is there any way to find out? I did not know Mr Jenkins but I've read a lot about him and talked to his son who still does upholstery. I also talked with a George McNiel who worked for Lewis since 1984. I've found out lots about the car, pretty much its whole history from George. I'm 73 and have had many old cars and motorcycles, some original and some hot rods, but this one is the most interesting one I've ever had. It only got 30 miles a year on it while Lewis had it. It's my only old car now so I'm enjoying driving it. Next thing that needs attention is the brakes.
