36Dodge Posted July 4, 2015 Share Posted July 4, 2015 Hello everyone. I have a question on the serial plate for my 1936 Dodge brothers truck. The serial number is 8261168. When I do a search to decode the serial number, it shows no LE 31 for that serial number. Could the decoder I used perhaps be wrong or do I have a mixed ID plate? Also I assume the vin is the plate below the ID plate. It reads H-22-LR-40334. I'm not sure if the dashes are in the same place since I haven't had a chance to clean it up yet. 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

jpage Posted July 6, 2015 Share Posted July 6, 2015 The lower plate is usually the body number. It states the model type and then the body number. The serial number is The one most often used for title numbers but not always. Check your title , If you have one, to see which number matches. If you have no title, then use the serial number.
