John348
We must not forget Chevrolet's Bicentennial attempt. Why they did it in 1974 is beyond me https://fastlane.gm.com/2014/07/04/spirit-america-chevrolets-bicentennial-celebration-cars/ Lets not forget these rusty patriotic examples also http://www.monzamirage.com/ as the proud owner of one myself Edited July 4, 2015 by John348 (see edit history)
John_S_in_Penna
John348, you were wondering why Chevrolet made aBicentennial edition in 1974. Though a Chevy executivefrom the 1970's would know for sure, I can surmise: The Bicentennial was a momentous event that was celebrated for several years leading up to 1976.Many historical events (say 1774, 1775) led up to ourDeclaration of Independence. For example, the U. S.issued its first Bicentennial postage stamp in 1971, andthen other issues came out in subsequent years. One would hear on TV in 1974 and 1975 brief public-servicemessages titled "200 years ago today." Wikipedia says that theAmerican Revolution Bicentennial Commission was formedin 1966!
ScarredKnightfan
We must not forget Chevrolet's Bicentennial attempt. Never have forgotten those ... quite cool, I think, anyway. And, love your Monza Mirage ... sweet! Hope everyone had a great 4th of July holiday! KRK Sr.
AMC Pacer had a red white and blue one too. There was one posted a few months back by Chris Ritter in the Library forum. PA issued the Bicentennial plate in 1972, ended use in 1976. Karl
