auburnseeker
I saw this on ebay. Measure twice cut once? Looks like they cut too much off the bed and I'm not quite sure what happened to that top. Why would you bob the bed that far anyways. They used bobbed beds on hot rod trucks in the 50's especially and t's in the 60's but The proportions always looked better. whtbaron
The best laid plans of mice and men go aft awry. Too bad, looks like they spent enough to do it right. Got the link? auburnseeker
Here is the link. Surprisingly the thing is already bid to 24G and was just listed. It's a 10 day listing as well.http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ford-Model-A-/371361919195?forcerrptr=true&hash=item5676e530db&item=371361919195
Matt Harwood
Maybe a cut-down phaeton or even a closed closed car that was chopped up? The portion of the cab aft of the doors looks all wrong. The windshield is way too tall, too, which also explains why the top looks wonky, and I don't think that's an open car cowl. It certainly does have an odd look to it that you wouldn't get it you were using proper Model A parts. His two buddies bidding on it seem to like it, though. JACK M
302 Ford with a Turbo 350?!?!?I saw that too. At least the engine and rear end are Ford.Maybe there is a shortage of C-6s in that neighborhood. auburnseeker
I think they stretched the cab for more room then used a standard top. That would explain the wrong proportions on the cab and top.
Guest AlCapone
For those of us that have Model A collections it is a disgrace. What a waste of a nice truck but. Obviously someone likes it. I don't understand how it jumped from 5k to 24K. Would it not normally just group one increment to say $5100 ? Wayne

auburnseeker
I could be wrong but the front wheels look too far back as well. Looks like alot of nice parts went to someone that just couldn't follow the directions on the box

Dave Mellor NJ
If you look at this older Ebay example the body seems to be in proportion (nauseating color) all the cutting was behind. I see the fenders are bobbed also. If you look at the back of the body on both cars you see the same bumpouts whic wouldn't be on a phaeton or other and it's definitely an open cowl.http://www.ebay.com/itm/ford-model-a-1929-ford-model-a-roadster-pickup-/231153117467?forcerrptr=true&item=231153117467
jpage
I don't know why so many people will screw up a Model "A" in so many ways!!!
Steve_Mack_CT
Indeed. To each their own but one of the most appealing things about the A in my mind is the great proportions for a smaller car. It's hard, I think to mess with those lines and get it right.
whtbaron
I was wondering if it wasn't a closed cab pickup with the steel roof removed and a open car cowl added. Gotta be worth $80k at Barrett Jackson.
Paul Dobbin
I think it's Roadster Pickup with a Roadster top, a Model T box, Buick headlights, V8 Ford wheels, bobbed rear fenders and probably some other drive line. Still a Model A, but not a good example for antiquers like us. Whoever buys it can have fun making it fit their own desires.
Larry W
I like Model A's but never owned one and probably never will. IMHO, it looks to me like someone came across a pile of various scrap parts and just glued them all together and then painted it all one color, probably with leftover paint. As a kid, I used to do this with model cars because I couldn't afford to buy new. Seems to me that some people apply the same tactic to real cars in order to garner whatever monetary profit may be produced.

Dave Mellor NJ
compare it to pinky's cab back. I also believe the bed is A with some of the beading flattenned out.

MCHinson
The bid is interesting considering it was 24 G a few hours into the auction. The bid history shows a $50,000 bid that was retratcted. Either someone was trying to see what the highest bid someone else had already made, or else someone put an extra zero in their bid by mistake and then cancelled it. Either way, it is difficult for me to understand how anybody thinks that thing is worth over $20,000...
