FS: 1934 Packard Eight Model 1100 Five Passenger Sedan

Recommended Posts

My Father’s favorite vintage car was the 34 Packard and if there was one at a car show he would always point it out to me. He could never afford one but it was always high on my wish list. Late in my life I found this car and was lucky enough to become its caretaker for a little over two years, but now it is someone else’s turn.  If you are looking for a restored trailer queen this is not it, nor is this a rusty barn find covered in dust and bird poop. This is something that is much harder to find, a very well preserved 81 year old ORIGINAL car that has been garage kept, gently used and properly stored throughout its whole life. While it shows plenty of honest patina from use it looks great, has all its original parts, and remains in reliable running and driving condition with a remarkable documented history all the way back to the original 1933 purchase.

1934 was the last year that all Packards were large “Senior” cars with features such as vacuum assisted brakes, adjustable ride control suspension, and Bijur lubrication systems. The model 1100 was the entry level but this car was ordered with Deluxe options including dual metal covered sidemounts, tire mirrors, trunk rack, wheel trim rings, Goddess mascot, Startix, rare AM radio, high compression head and Handy Kit. The body is rust free and very solid, all doors open and close with one finger pressure. It retains the original factory Packard Blue Poly lacquer which still shines up well, while the fenders have been touched up over the years. The gray wool interior is all original in very good condition and the woodgrained trim is excellent.  I have done little to the car other than clean and maintain it but I have added a new Optima battery, cables, and disconnect switch, reproduction oil filter, hood bumpers and check straps. Also included are the original jack, handle, and lug wrench plus some spare parts. Extensive paperwork includes factory invoice, owner’s manual, service card and complete ownership history.

During my ownership I have greatly enjoyed locally driving this car weekly and taking it to shows and cruise-ins, I have put about 800 miles on it in two years. It has just under 73,000 miles, starts and drives reliably and is an attention grabber wherever it goes. You can read about my experiences with the car on this forum at:

You can view over 175 high-resolution photos here:

The price is $32,900.

I want this car to go to someone that will appreciate its unique originality and I will consider reasonable offers. The car is located in McKinney, Texas. Please contact me via PM,
E-mail, or phone with any questions.

I would really like to sell this car to someone who will appreciate its originality and continue its preservation so I have limited advertising it to this forum and the Packard Club forum. Unfortunately there has been little response. I am therefore asking for best offer and will expand its offering to larger ad sites next week. If you are interested please send me a PM with your e-mail address and I will send a very detailed description.

Based on the resounding level of silence in response to this ad I have apparently scared everyone away with my asking price. Never let it be said I am insensitive to public opinion! I encourage anyone who is interested in this car to view all the photos in my dropbox:  https://www.dropbox.com/sh/8ymodv1fu5rlm7i/AABszlO98h1kwyvDx2MRubnCa?oref=e&n=432560910 Also contact me for a copy of my detailed fact sheet. If you like what you see make me a reasonable offer.

Thanks for your consideration.

I'm late to the party. Nice car but with no asking price it's hard for potential buyers to know what you might consider reasonable? TO bad it's not a Super 8...

I took the Packard out this morning to a local weekly cruise-in, I am fortunate to have two of these conveniently located within a 10-mile radius of my house. It was about 78 degrees when I got there and over 85 by the time I left but the car performed well. Mine was the only non-modified prewar car there today although sometimes there are others that show up.
