Klaxon horn

Hi folks, I'm a musician needing a klaxon horn for a live theatre show. I've seen many online for sale but wondered about the battery connections since this application is not with a car. Any recommendations on what to purchase and what type of battery to use? Many thanks.

Klaxons come in both 6 and 12 volt versions.

For short duration blasts the voltage won't matter.

Some Klaxon horn look-a-likes have only one terminal with the horn itself being the ground.

All the genuine Klaxons I've seen have two posts and polarity doesn't matter.

They take a lot of juice so don't even think about getting by with a dry cell lantern battery.

A lawn and garden battery will do nicely....... :D

While you did mention a battery Klaxon.,they also made mechanical auto horns that operated by a button simply pushed with your hand. They tend to be cheaper to purchase and lack the electric components sometimes found to be troublesome. The noise from a mechanical Klaxon will never be forgotten!  --Bob--

I've got a Mechanical push down Horn made by Stewart-Warner.  In my opinion, they are more expensive because of the rarity of them, especially in good working and good looking condition.

I found the Electrical ones pretty plentiful and actually quit buying them.
