Guest gonesouth
I'm looking for my first Packard and thought I had found a reasonable choice until you guys gave me a gentle reality check, pointing out that even for a car which drives and stops I need to budget about $25,000 just to be able to make it a 'good used car'So saying that a closed Junior is the most reasonably priced car for a fender and running boards car that will drive at60, what should I be looking for and how much should I expect to spend to buy it? Dave Mitchell
I like 39s because they have the classic wide grill and you can get a factory overdrive. They are modestly priced also, particularly the Super 8 sedans. I've owned 39s since 1986 and if you get one, I'll be happy to help with advice etc. 1940 is also a good car and if you get the Super 8, they have the newer type engine. People here look down their nose at the juniors and post 1934 cars, but they are great cars to drive, and the low priced sedans are a lot of fun. Ozstatman
For the price this '41 120 Club Coupe, posted in the thread below on PackardInfo looks real good value. Still requires some work but all the major money spending areas seem to be covered, plus you should have change out of your budget! http://packardinfo.com/xoops/html/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=12534&start=1073
