What would be correct plating for my truck?

Recommended Posts

I have located my 29 DB truck sales booklet that I acquired on e-bay. It does state that the radiator shroud or shell is nickel plated for my 29 truck.

The sale booklet has much information in it.

I will have the headlite surround rims nickel plated also. The dash plate may be difficult to plate because it has a thin steel plate attached on the back side.

This time was about the time when chrome was taking over nickel for the outside. I believe the 1st use of the "new" chrome was the 1927 or 28 Oldsmobile? If you want to be correct I would investigate further to make sure. Personally I believe eveything on the truck was nickel but that's just my 2 cents. As keiser says by the late 20s the outside was chrome and the inside "silverware" was nickel and would remain so until almost the 40s. My custom built '35 Dodge van came with some outside handles and stuff and they were all nickel plated which I redid in nickel to keep the history. (The rad shell and bumpers etc. were "chrome delete" and were painted the blue of the truck.)

Trucks were a different animal as far as trim goes, so i would not be surprised if the outer hardware was nickel. Thanks for the lesson with the sales booklet.
