Guest Blackpack Posted May 23, 2015 Share Posted May 23, 2015 Don, I think you are talking about the pin lock that screws in from the outside of the case. The pin lock was actually in place when the gear box was removed, but when the mechanic removed the pin lock, the shaft pin was not there. This allowed the the reverse idler gear to ride free up and down the shaft and allowed the shaft to turn. The result was a scored up shaft and a chewed up idler gear and cluster gear. I cannot understand why someone would not have put the pin back in place. I hope this is what was causing the car to shake so badly in first and reverse. Fingers crossed.
