old Delco exterior lighted sign

The company I work for just moved into a old building. It was a auto parts store for 30 or 40 years. Up in a storage loft we found a old exterior Delco parts sign. Its 4 ft by 8 ft . We were just wondering if its worth anything. I've seen some vintage signs go for a lot. from what I have found out the sign is from the late 60's or early 70's so it's that old but it's before Delco became AC Delco.

The signs you see going for a lot are the old porcelain coated metal signs. Plastic signs are not worth as much but still have some value.

Pros of your sign

1. Size, bigger is always better

2. Says GM on it and Delco (not a "collectable" name but still a known company).

3. Lighted

Cons

1. Size again because it will be hard to ship

2. Plastic which many people do not want in their collection

3. Has the local company name Automotive Supply Stores Inc which is a pretty generic name and probably retracts from the value.

I think you could get $300-450 for it on Craigslist if you clean it up and take some good pics with it lit up.

I think you will find that these types of signs are now becoming more popular, as vintage porcelain signs have increased in price so much, a lot of collectors are "priced" out of the market. Personally I like these signs because they were fragile and more easily damaged, meaning a lot of very pristine examples are hard to come by. I agree with the other commenters assessment, probably $300.00ish...that's what I would ask for it.
