You know that discussion on the smart chip to monitor your "health". Already being experimented with in some European countries for the past 2 years. The 1939 Century started quickly since resting since Christmas and our 30 mile trip around a country block was pleasant and uneventful, except for tooting at a few people we recognized and getting waves and thumbs up from others. Washed the car in the driveway, dried it and put it away, ready for pre war events, when and if they occur. I washed the car, my wife says it is too large, she looks after the white walls. NC1968Riviera Posted April 11, 2020 Share Posted April 11, 2020 It was a beautiful day in the neighborhood today so I unwrapped (literally) The Aqua Zephyr and took her our for the first time since New Year's Day. I knew better than to take pictures of her when the sun is at its highest in the sky and most intense. The color of the car in the pictures always suffers. Today a fellow Mason-Dixon member Steve Torrico who is laid off from his job wanted to come for a visit. Keeping our distance from each other when he arrived. He drove his very original 1927 Model 27 sedan FROM ELIZABETHTOWN! 72 miles. Just to show it to me and ask advice. He wanted me to drive it to get my opinion on it's performance. So I got to chauffer him. It runs/rides and drives better than my 1925. I believe around 62,000 original miles. He is the 3rd owner. Yes! All original paint and upholstery. This is just about in the same spot as the original photo was shot. As you can see, a lot has changed along the street. Maybe next year I'll try it again with some kids. Brooklyn Beer Posted April 12, 2020 Share Posted April 12, 2020 After two back to back rain filled weekends today is turning out to be a super mid 70's Easter Day. So time to get the big girl out and give her a little exercise. Seems I wasn't the only one thinking that. Gas station in town was mobbed. Head over to the grocery store to pick up dinner for "Surf and Turf Sunday" and they are full. But a fully stocked meat and seafood case made me happy. Then headed over to the town park for a couple photo's and everyone is out enjoying the sunshine and doing Easter Egg hunts. Not a parking spot one to be found. Jeeze. So I gave up and headed to the hardware store and that parking was almost full too ! Folks getting the summer gardens going it looked like. Ran in and got my fuel stabilizer and thankfully the line moved at a good clip. Then jumped on the highway quick and blew out the cobwebs on a high speed 10 mile jaunt and then home. Nice to enjoy an actual Spring this year but I already need to mow again after 4 days ! grrr. 1 inch of rain followed by two 96 degree days will do that. 7 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

So I took the Reatta out for a quick exercise down the highway for one exit and back home through the back streets...no pictures. Highways are almost void of cars but those who are on it are speeding wicked...bunch of looser's! The first sunny day we've had in a while, and a lot of people were out -- but keeping their distance as far as I could tell. I went up on the north side of Twin Peaks for a nice view of the city with the Marin headlands in the distance, and then dropped in on a neighbor to take a side-by-side photo of my '41 with his '53 step down Hudson. The photo really shows just how revolutionary the step down was -- it must be a full 6 inches lower than my Buick. Very nice Opel. I had a '73 with the same body style and color, except that mine was the Rallye with the flat black hood and instrument package. I love your 60 225 6 Window Riv as well - looks like our cars are the same color and are great examples of the elegance of the early 60s Electra 225 4 door hardtops - they look really cool with the windows down given there is no center pillar! Also, the 60 and 61 were the only two model years with the Mirrormatic speedometer cluster! The Manta is a 4 speed stick, and has a factory sunroof...great little car! MachineGun - nice Mantas are really hard to find! I've owned this one since '79 so obviously it is part of the family at this point Hahaha! I've added the Rallye instrument package to the standard Luxus interior so it has the best of both worlds! Here we are at the 1913 Wilkeson school building, with my brother-in-law's '65 Riviera GS and our '59 Electra. My father-in-law joined in the fun. Hard to believe this car is now 50 years old, and only has 17,200 miles. It sat for many, many years after the original owner died because no one in the family wanted to drive a 3-speed standard shift car, but that's what I was raised on, so feels totally natural to me. Last year I had a discussion with a fellow car guy, and a writer about your car. He referred to it a "legendary car", in that though the stick was on them, but how many were actually built? I got the snow and ice shoveled out of the way this weekend, and I took my 1955 Roadmaster 76R for a short Sunday drive on beautiful, dry highways! This was the first time that I've been able to drive my '55 since last October due to icy or wet road conditions. The Fireball V-Eight engine ran like a champ! Those back roads are so empty of traffic. And this pond was so picturesque! And you can see how far behind we lag the Southeast, regarding Springtime, in this picture The couple in the home gave me permission to take the photos but they wanted six copies! lol... This car is just such a pleasure to cruise around in. Mild mannered till you stab the pedal on the right...then it's quite an eye opener!
