Guest Classic George
Hello,In the Stutz model numbering system and for decoding a VIN number, what would be the model style corresponding to the number 22? Another post mentioned that of the 30 or so models of Stutz, the series in the 20's would be factory models, in the 40's custom bodies, etc. Is this complete listing available anywhere? Thank you very much,George
K8096
From 1929 & up, a model 22 would be a 5 passanger, two door coupe.
Guest Classic George
Thank you very much for the reply. Is the 5-passenger 2-door style a rumble seat type and a hardtop only, more specifically for a 1929 model with a number that begins with M8 22 is it possible to be a convertible coupe or is there another designation for that style? Also, I have seen reference to the cabriolet - I am not sure how that differs from a convertible coupe. George
K8096
A short wheelbase convertible coupe is an M8 27. The M8 22 does not have a rumble seat, just a little turtle deck with a small trunk lid. Are you referencing the one that recently sold from New England to the Toledo, OH area? Cabriolet and convertible coupe are the same thing. They were built on both short and long wheelbases. The long wheelbase ones are M8 46.
