Interesting register plare on this early Reo

Hi!

I bought this early reo photo from ebay. When I scanned the photo I noticed that the has interesting register plate. I believe the figures are C1-641 IND. Could this Reo have been registeres in Indiana. What might the other letters and numbers stand for?

Looks like C1-64 IND. You added an extra 1. Yes, probably Indiana.

The "I" in IND is different from the "1" in C1.

Hi!

Sorry for misspelling. Letters r and t are so close in your keyboard. It is nice that you all understood what I was talking about. Now I wonder what C1 could mean. Did they have different classes of vehicles? Why was this tiny Reo classed C1? Or could it mean some area of Indiana where the Reo had her driver living.

I own two Reo Model G from 1926 but would like to have a Reo like this also in my garage.

At this point in time Indiana may have been using an alpha code for counties, hence the C1?

The plate in the picture looks like a rare "pre-state" issue. The James Fox book says, for Indiana between 1905-1913 there were State, county and city issues and that city & county issues are just about non-existant. Also said plates had "IND" at right.
