Welcome to the forum.

Have you got a 1937 series 90L ?

Buick - General - AACA Forums is the best place for Buick questions

Is a 248ci or 320ci ?

248's have 3 bolts on the carb:- 320 have 4 bolts

Look at Team Buick

Possibly 1948 series 70

Yes we have a 90 series Limo and it is a 320 . Have looked at two sources and haven't been able to identify engine year. I D # 51304637 above the distributor. Additional sources would be appreciated . Straight Eights are COOL !

The engine is a 320 built in July 1948. The number decodes as follows: 5,130,467 is the engine number and the last digit of 7 tells us it's for a 70 series Roadmaster. This info is compiled from Buick factory records.

I hope this helps.

Hi Dave,

Thank you very much for the info on the straight 8. We recently acquired this L90 Limo and it is in excellent condition. The previous owner had started a frame off restoration, obviously ran into some problems with the original engine, and this is the engine he had purchased to replace it. This information will be very helpfull in ordering parts and on the installation. If you know of any other obstacles that we will encounter installing this motor into our 1937 L90, we would appreciate feedback. Once again, thanks for your assistance.

Cheers, Len & Tracy, Dallas

I am having challenges locating the engine serial number on my 1936 Buick. There appears to be a large number behind the starter solenoid. I will have to remove the solenoid to get the actual number. Am I looking in the right location?

Since this thread is 3 years old, you might want to start a fresh one for your questions.
