1928 Model 81 radiator cap

I have an all original 1928 Model Pierce-Arrow model 81 in original paint, upholstry etc. etc. The radiator cap appears to be original but it is plain. No Archer. I was told that it isn't right that they all had Archers. Other people tell me they came both ways. Anyone out there can clarify this for me, that would be great! Thanks Bob

Bob,

According to the dealers data book dated 11-3-27 there were four factory installed optional radiator emblems for the cap:

P.A. 110901 trade mark type - $6.00

P.A Archer - $25.00

Arrow Bearer - $10.00

Ellison Wing cap - $6.00

Go for the archer if you can find one, it was top of the line! If only you could get one for $25.00 today!

Bob,

Don Sommers at americanarrowcorp.com makes a variety of mascots, and of very high quality.

We bought a rear windshield from him for our '30 Packard.

A 1927 Model 80 I considered buying some time back had the mascot as a circle with an arrow piercing it at a 45 degree angle.

Best of luck,

Guest steve j.

I have an Archer radiator cap from a P. A. It may be a '28.

How can I find out more about it's age, model, worth, etc.

I sure would appreciate any info I could get, Steve J.
