Tigger
Have a 1985 Riviera with the digital dash that works but the numbers are very dim and intermittent.Sent it out 3 months ago to a shop that said they can fixthese dashes and still is not repaired. They have said it needs a control module they can not get.Ordered a dash from a bone yard but they sent an analog dash. Can the digital wiring be converted to analog?Or is there any way to repair the digital dash? sosuzguy
Call John at Caspers. They repair these all the time for the Regal/Grand Nationals. They can fix both digital and analog.http://www.casperselectronics.com/mm5/me...e=8485GN_REPAIRhttp://www.installationinstructions.com/102058.pdfCheck out all the webpages here that say digital dash for more info.http://www.installationinstructions.com/FYI/Let us know how your experience with them turns out. Reatta Man
Also, check the wiring harness that plugs into the dash. Mine had a bad connector; as I remember, I fixed the connector with a low-power soldering iron while the display was sitting in my lap. Took about a half hour to fix it and then put the dash back together. Joe
tim63riv
Tigger,I know how you feel about the Digital dashes on the early 80's Riviera's! I have 2 of them for my 85 T Type, and neither one has all of the displays working. If I were to install an analog dash into a car with a digital cluster, I would find a parts car and take the entire instrument cluster wiring harness along with the instrument cluster itself. I would also grab the ECM, just in case. The PROM's in the ECM's are different for Digital dashes and also for Electronic Climate Control. (don't ask how I know this!)You would also need the fuel sending unit from the tank, as the resistances of the digital and analog senders are different. (don't ask me how I know this either!)Having your digital dash repaired by Casper's may be the best route to go!Good Luck,Tim
