KQQLCAT
Does anyone know how the switches work for the kick down and switch pitch. Where does the 12V come from. It seems like the switch pitch is activated at WOT thru the plunger style switch, could this be?ThanksPat
RivNut
The angle of the stator blades in the converter switches when 12 volts is applied to the solenoid in the transmission. It depends on whether your car is a 64, 65, or 66 if the switch is a push or pull switch. You can get 12V from any source, put an inline fuse with it, and get an aftermarket TH400 switch from one of many aftermarket suppliers to complete your installation. The carb you're using will be the big deterniming factor as to which kind of switch you'll want to use. My 64 uses a push switch which is activated by a roller wheel on the carb linkage. On the 66 Q-jet set up I have, the switch is activated when a rod attached to the linkage is pulled. I would have to guess that the 65 is the same as the 64 because they both used Carter AFB carburetors.
