chris_58
Hello everybody,On my 58 Cadillac a glass bowl fuel filter (with a modern paper filter element) is mounted between the fuel pump and the carb. I just rebuilt the fuel pump with ethanol resistant components and initially after the start up of the engine, the filter bowl is completely filled with fuel. However when the engine warms up, the fuel level in the glass bowl drops and does not come back up even when I rev the engine up. Eventually the level drops to the bottom edge of the filter and now what appears to be air bubbles emerge from the filter.Could it be that there is a leak somewhere in the gas line from the tank to the fuel pump where air is sucked in? I already replaced the rubber line from the end of the steel line to the fuel pump. Or could the filter sock in the fuel pick up in the tank be clogged?Chris

chris_58
Thanks, Ben. But the fuel filter was the first part I exchanged because I thought it could be clogged.Chris
Hemi Joel
Try the rubber hose from the tank to the steel line. That was the problem on my 62 caddy. Good luck.
