50Traveler
60+ years later, what is the best fluid to use. I don't want to assume transmission fluid is the way to go since there are too many varieties of ATF these days. What has your experience been?Thank you,Justin
StillOutThere
Whatever the latest Dexron-Mercon ATF formula is is fine and best for your seals and hoses. I haven't seen any discussion anywhere by anyone that anything out of the very ordinary is needed. I understand your concern but it is unnecessary to my knowledge. skyler
I have a 54 Chrysler and I use prestone power steering fluid. any modern power steering fluid will do. skyler
skyler
I currently use peak power steering fluid. looks almost green. strange color. I get it at the local dollar store. I have used prestone also. whatever is on sale. most of these products today are far superior to the ones made in the day or at the very least they are equivalent. skyler
