1940TORPEDO
What is the correct antifreeze to use. 1940 pontiac 8 cylinder.I am needing to pick up some antifreeze so I can change it tonight. Unfortunatly my service books are at the shop and it is still too early here to run straight water. Is it safe to just use an ethelyne glycol? Guest
Ethylene glycol is absolutely fine to use. My Pontiac (cross flow rad) was designed to use alcohol. It would evaporate from the water and then condense in the top of the rad and remix with the water. I have used ethylene glycol for 56 years and have had no problems. I usually drain it out every three years and replace with new.
